private by design

Serein is built so that your breathing never leaves your iPhone. The app has no accounts, no analytics or advertising SDKs, and no Serein server that receives your measurements.

microphone

Serein activates the microphone only while you log a breath. It analyzes the changing sound level on your device to measure your breath’s duration, balance, and steadiness. No audio recording is created, stored, or transmitted.

what is kept on your device

Breath duration, airflow balance, steadiness, the resulting orb, and any generated insight are stored in the app’s private storage on your iPhone. They may be included in your encrypted device backup according to your iPhone settings.

on-device intelligence

When Apple Intelligence is available, Serein uses Apple’s on-device language model to refine an estimate and write a short insight. This happens entirely on your device; a fallback works without it.

purchases

Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Serein never sees your payment details. Purchase entitlements are verified on your device using Apple’s StoreKit.

deleting your data

You can permanently erase all saved breaths from settings inside the app at any time. Deleting the app removes its stored data as well.

not a medical device

Serein is a personal wellness and creative reflection tool. Its estimates are an expressive interpretation of one breath, not a measurement of any medical condition.
